Argumento
In 1838, Elisabeth agrees to bear a child for an anonymous English landowner who promises to pay her father's debt in return. Seven years later, she is hired as a governess on a remote Sussex estate. It is here that she discovers the girl she is meant to care for, Louisa, is actually her own daughter from that arrangement. The father of Louisa, Charles Godwin, is none other than the anonymous landowner Elisabeth made the agreement with. Now, Elisabeth must navigate her role as governess while keeping the secret of her connection to Louisa.
