Naomi, the studious and devout daughter of a prominent rabbi, convinces her father to postpone her arranged marriage for a year so she can study at a Jewish seminary in Safed. There, she befriends Michelle, another headstrong student. They encounter Anouk, a mysterious foreigner with a disturbing past who is suffering from an ailment. Naomi and Michelle secretly perform Kabalistic cleansing rituals on Anouk to ease her suffering. This process opens up new horizons for the girls, causing them to clash with the rigid male establishment they grew up in as they struggle to remain true to themselves.
