Argumento
Kathy Nicolo, a troubled woman living in San Francisco, California, loses her house to foreclosure due to an administrative error. She becomes determined to get it back and moves into her friend's place while plotting her next steps. Meanwhile, Behrani, an Iranian immigrant, purchases the same house at auction, intending to renovate it and sell for profit to secure his son's education. When Kathy learns that a family is living in 'her' house, she becomes desperate and turns to Lester Burdon, a sheriff's deputy, for help. Lester, drawn to Kathy's plight, begins an intimate involvement with her while also harassing the Behrani family to vacate the property. The tension escalates as both families refuse to back down, culminating in a tragic event that irrevocably changes all their lives.
