Historia
Beaty (Dame Helen Mirren), a high-class London cabaret prostitute, falls in love with Emory (John Shea), a lighting/sound technician at the same establishment they work in. Their relationship is complicated by Beaty's job, Emory's lack of money, and their troubled pasts. Beaty has an abusive former lover who is also her son's father and possibly her pimp. When Alex (Paul Angelis), another abusive figure fresh out of prison, arrives needing a place to stay, he threatens Beaty and Emory's relationship. Emory's wife died under questionable circumstances, and his friend Max (Murray Salem) shows up with a money-making scheme. Despite their efforts to sort things out, the odds seem against them.
