Kurobara Shoten follows Juzo, an ambitious film director who faces production delays due to Meiko's pregnancy, his lead actress. In search of a replacement, he discovers Ikuyo, an aspiring actress performing in an unusual rope-arts function. When Naomi, another actor, initiates an intimate scene with Ikuyo during filming, it inadvertently causes Meiko's pregnancy to show too evidently, halting production again.
