La vida precoz y breve de Sabina Rivas follows young teenage lovers, Sabina and Jovany, both Hondurans who meet again after some years apart at the Mexican-Guatemalan border. Sabina dreams of becoming a great singer and intends to reach the United States, while Jovany is willing to do whatever it takes to be accepted into the notorious gang La Mara Salvatrucha. Their reunion sparks a clash with various adverse conditions they face together at the border: white slavery, Mexican migratory agent Burrona, American agent Patrick, brothel matron Doña Lita, Mexican Consul Don Nico in Tecún Umán, drug-trafficking networks, the army, and La Mara Salvatrucha.
