Historia
Meier, an East Berlin paperhanger, inherits money from his West Berlin father and decides to fulfill his lifelong dream of traveling around the world. He obtains a forged West German passport and pretends to go to Bulgaria while actually heading towards the free world. Upon attempting to return to East Berlin, Meier finds himself stuck due to the political situation, initiating his double life. Despite his intentions to keep away from his East German friends, he can't help but stay connected with them. As in all good comedies, tension builds up to a crisis.
Resumen
Meier is a light-hearted comedy-drama that follows the titular character's journey as he navigates the complexities of the Cold War era and the Berlin Wall division. The film won multiple national Film Academy Awards for its satirical take on East German politics, laced with jokes and innuendos that would primarily resonate with Germans. Meier serves as a commentary on the absurdity of the wall dividing one people based merely on geographical accident.
