The film 'Montevideo, Bog te video!' is set in Belgrade during the 1930s and revolves around a group of young football players who dream of representing Yugoslavia at the first FIFA World Cup in Montevideo, Uruguay. The story introduces us to these historical figures through their individual personalities and aspirations. Among them are Blagoje Mosa Marjanovic, played by Petar Strugar, and an extraordinary goalie from the Soko Club, Andrija Kuzmanovic (Andrija Kuzmanovic). The players face challenges and obstacles in pursuit of their dream, including innovations that were once considered ludicrous and the ever-present ideal of a seemingly impossible journey to Montevideo. As the story progresses, we witness themes of love, heroism, companionship, faith, honor, patriotism, and respect among the inhabitants of Belgrade, with soccer taking a central role.

Resumen

'Monteuevo, Bog te video!' is a historical melodrama based on the book by Vladimir Stankovic. Directed by Dragan Bjelogrlic in his feature film debut, the movie offers a nostalgic view into the 1930s Belgrade and resurrects an era when values and virtues were distinct from those of today. The film introduces a new generation of actors playing almost forgotten historical figures who were soccer stars during that time. While soccer seems to lead the narrative, it's ultimately themes like love, heroism, companionship, faith, honor, patriotism, and respect that take center stage. The story is set against the backdrop of the burgeoning popularity of electricity, radio, cabaret nightclubs, and Ford T model cars. The film also features renowned Serbian actors such as Srdjan Todorovic, Slobodan Boda Ninkovic, Nikola Djuricko, Vojin Cetkovic, Branimir Brstina, Mima Karadzic, Marko Zivic, Sergej Trifunovic, and many others.
