Historia
Biopic about 1970s Welsh marijuana trafficker Howard Marks, whose inventive smuggling schemes made him a huge success in the drug trade, as well as leading to dealings with both the IRA and British Intelligence. Based on Marks' biography with the same title.
Resumen
In the swinging '60s, Welsh coal miner's son Howard Marks defies expectations by securing a place at Oxford University. Charismatic and ambitious, Marks soon abandons nuclear physics for a far more lucrative pursuit: marijuana smuggling. With his sharp wit and inventive schemes, he transforms from a small-time dealer into a global kingpin, responsible for the majority of weed smoked in the West during the '70s and '80s. Marks' daring operations attract powerful allies and enemies alike - from the CIA and PLO to the IRA and Mafia. He even becomes an MI6 agent briefly. Rhys Ifans delivers a standout performance as the folk hero who dances on the edge of danger, always one step ahead of authorities, until his eventual arrest in 1980 with a record-breaking £34 million worth of hashish.
