Argumento
In the rundown neighbourhood of Contagem near Belo Horizonte, 'No Coração do Mundo' follows the lives of several residents as they navigate their dreams and realities. The younger generation yearns for a better life, while the older ones have largely resigned themselves to their circumstances. Women are portrayed as eager to work honestly, while men often resort to criminal shortcuts in pursuit of what is metaphorically referred to as 'The Heart of the World' or Paradise. The film interweaves the stories of six or seven individuals, providing a fascinating yet depressing portrayal of their lives. Without giving away too much, the end offers a genuine shock.
