In Luis Buñuel's 'Cet obscur objet du désir' (1977), a man aboard a train pours a bucket of water over a young girl on the platform, much to the surprise of his fellow passengers. He proceeds to explain how he became obsessed with her, leading to a series of flashbacks that reveal their peculiar relationship. The girl, played by two different actresses representing different sides of her personality, continually tantalizes him but never allows him to fulfill his desire for her.
Resumen
Directed by Spanish surrealist filmmaker Luis Buñuel, 'Cet obscur objet du désir' is a complex exploration of obsession, desire, and the human psyche. The film is an adaptation of Pierre Louÿs' novella 'La Femme et le Pantin'. It tells the story of a man's unhealthy fixation on a young woman, played by both Carole Bouquet and Angela Molina.
