Historia
On the Road follows Sal Paradise (Sam Riley), a young writer struggling with his stalled career and shaken by his father's recent death. Seeking inspiration and change, he embarks on a road trip across America. Along the way, he meets Dean Moriarty (Garrett Hedlund), a charismatic and fearless figure who becomes Sal's guide into a new world of freedom and experience. The two men form a deep bond as they travel together with Dean's free-spirited wife, Marylou (Kristen Stewart). Their journey takes them through the American Southwest, where they search for 'It', an intangible feeling of excitement and fulfillment that comes from living life to its fullest. Throughout their travels, Sal and Dean face highs and lows, making decisions that change the course of their lives.
Resumen
On the Road (2012), directed by Walter Salles, is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac's seminal Beat Generation novel of the same name. The film follows the journey of its protagonist Sal Paradise, loosely based on Kerouac himself, as he navigates his way through grief, self-discovery, and literary inspiration. The story explores themes of friendship, freedom, and the search for meaning in life, all set against the backdrop of post-World War II America. Despite decades in development hell, the film was met with enthusiasm due to its all-star cast, including Kirsten Dunst as Dean's second wife, Camille, and Kristen Stewart as Marylou. The movie aims to capture the spirit of Kerouac's novel, reigniting 1950s counterculture with style and passion.
