Born as Jo Eun-ji (조은지) on February 10, 1981, in Daejeon, South Korea, the actress has established herself as a versatile talent in the Korean entertainment industry. She attended Dongshin High School in her hometown before making her cinematic debut in 2000 with the gritty film Tears, for which she earned a Blue Dragon Film Award nomination for Best New Actress.
Over her two-decade career, she has become widely recognized for her compelling supporting performances in both television and film, including notable roles in The President's Last Bang, Forever the Moment, and her award-winning turn as Geum-ok in the 2012 historical thriller The Concubine. Beyond acting, Jo transitioned into filmmaking, making her directorial debut with the acclaimed romantic comedy Perhaps Love (2021), which earned her the Best New Director title at the 58th Baeksang Arts Awards.
