Lang Khê Tran was born in Vietnam during World War II. His father, Henri Tran, served as a French soldier alongside his brother Robert Tassen. When Japanese forces attacked Hanoi, Robert witnessed his brother and pregnant sister-in-law's execution. Blinded by vengeance, Robert dedicated himself to finding the culprits until meeting Maï, an Indochinese prostitute who influenced him to reassess his hatred.
