Marie Ahl is a versatile Swedish actress who has built a diverse career across film, television, and theater. Born
Marie Birgitta Andersson on April 5, 1950, in Sundsvall, Sweden, she later adopted the stage name Marie Ahl. She pursued formal training at the Statens scenskola (State Stage School) from 1973 to 1976, which laid the foundation for her extensive work on the Swedish stage.
Her screen career began in the mid-1980s, making her debut in Henry Meyer’s short film Rövaren in 1986. Since then, she has appeared in several notable Swedish productions, including the thriller Järngänget (White Water Fury, 2000), the crime drama Beck – Enslingen (The Loner, 2002), and the acclaimed film Behind Blue Skies (2010). Her television credits include roles in popular series such as Skärgårdsdoktorn and Snoken.
In the short film Mannequins (2014), Ahl played the role of Alex 59, showcasing her ability to inhabit complex characters even in shorter formats. Beyond the camera, she has been a mainstay at the Turteatern in Stockholm, performing in a wide range of productions including Mirandolina, Kanin Kanin, and Ferdydurke.
