Biografía completa
Miřenka Čechová is a prominent Czech director, choreographer, performer, and writer, widely recognized as a leading figure in contemporary experimental dance and physical theater. Born Miroslava Čechová on March 16, 1982, in Aš (with professional roots deeply tied to Prague), she has built an international career spanning both Europe and the United States.
Her artistic journey began with a foundation in classical ballet at the Dance Conservatory in Prague. She later expanded her expertise by earning MA degrees in Alternative Theater and Nonverbal Theater before completing a doctorate in Physical Theater Direction at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in 2012. Čechová is the co-founder of two acclaimed theater companies, Spitfire Company and Tantehorse, and has served as a program director at the Czech Center New York.
In addition to her stage work, she is an accomplished author. Her autobiographical novel Baletky (Ballet Dancers) received critical acclaim for its raw, self-ironic portrayal of the disillusionment and physical demands of the 1990s ballet world in Prague. Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards, including a prestigious Fulbright scholarship to teach and research in the USA.
