Souad Amidou was born on 4 July 1959 to actor Amidou. She began her career at age four with her father in 'Le thé à la menthe' (1963). Claude Lelouch cast her as Anouk Aimée's daughter in 'Un homme et une femme' (1966). Souad studied acting under Anicette Fray, Jean-Louis Martin-Barbaz, John Strasberg, and Andreas Voutsinas. She gained recognition for her role in 'Le Grand frère' (1982), earning a César nomination for Best Female Newcomer. She has worked with directors like Gérald Oury, Jacques Deray, Ariel Zeitoun, Gérard Lauzier, and Steven Spielberg. On 23 December 1987, she married Fabien Onteniente but they divorced on 15 March 1991. Souad received the Legion of Honour in 2008. She directed 'Camille et Jamila' (2009) and 'Rendez-vous avec Ninette'. An advocate for veganism, she is a member of the Institut citoyen du cinéma's sponsorship committee and NGO Vegan Marathon.
