Stefania Goulioti was born of Greek origin but spent part of her childhood in Albania. She was orphaned twice and witnessed a massacre that claimed her foster family in Argyrokastron, Albania. Subsequently, she was trafficked to Athens, Greece, where she lived on the streets begging for money and experienced various forms of abuse within institutions meant for youth offenders.
